I felt so stupid. I really did.
So I'm reading this book and I'm just frustrated at all the cliches and such. I go through this entire
book, the whole thing. I get to the end and....it hits me that this is a retelling of "Hansel and Gretel." And then, after slapping myself, I came to the realization that it was pretty good.
Never read a "Hansel and Gretel" retelling. Fairly well-written.
The main characters were very cookie-cutter. Exactly like every other MG main character, except that Andrew is slightly overweight so that we can involve bullying. Congrats. But here's the rub: I don't want to read about bullying, even if it's a total of 10 pages.
Other than that, not bad.
STUFF THAT MADE ME LAUGH:
There was this one scene where there is this playground, the mother of all playgrounds and the children are informed that they are still kids because they are still "attracted" to this epic amazing playground.
Me: Well, then. I'm a kid.
