A Sea of Stars

Just one of those books that you read, you enjoy, but they don't make much of an impression.

Jack Osbourne leads a pretty typical pre-teen life. Nothing out of the ordinary until the night his house is broken into and armed men threaten his family. It turns out that Jack's father was drug trafficking and, before he came to his senses and had time to report the cartel, he was arrested. The Osbornes, with the exception of Mr. Osbourne, are placed in WITSEC and sent off to Elko, Nevada.

Life in WITSEC is a hard transition for the Osbornes, especially Jack. But his transition is made easier by the best character in this book, Sam: The Awesome Custodian!, and Cat, who was okay, if a little bland.

Well, wouldn't you know it, Jack, now Zach, has a darling crush on Cat, who is being crushed on also by Peter. Peter becomes rather angry at Zach, who clearly holds Cat's affections, and decides to go through Zach's notebooks, which Zach so carelessly and stupidly wrote down his life story in. Brilliant job, there. Anywho, a nice man comes up to Peter and inquires as to if there is anyone by the name of Osborne in Elko and Peter, knowing Zach's real name, gleefully supplies that information for a tidy sum of promised money. (Sucker!!) And things go downhill further for the Osbourne family from there.
